Lineage and general info

There is no agreed-upon first breeder of Lemon Tree, which kind of makes sense when you think about how obvious it sounds to mix Sour Diesel with a strong, lemon-flavored Skunk strain. One source though credits “a group of growers from Santa Cruz, California,” but no names are given, and that’s not exactly a region with a scarcity of weed growers. Meanwhile, Creekside concentrates of Santa Cruz describes it as, “A cross between the mythical Las Vegas Lemon Skunk and The OG #18.”

Whoever was the first breeder of Lemon Tree weed, over the last decade its grown in popularity, winning a number of cannabis world accolades, including first place at the Santa Cruz Cup 2016, second prize for Best U.S. Hybrid at the 2014 High Times Cannabis Cup in Seattle, and an 8th place finish at the 2017 Emerald Cup.

Lemon Tree (often called Lemon Tree OG or Lemon OG) is a well-balanced strain that can combine both uplifting, euphoric sensations with relaxation and a general happy feeling. It’s also known for causing the munchies, as well as a nice body high, so get the couch and some snacks ready.

The nugs are dark and dusted with trichomes, and the taste is just what you’d imagine: lemon, skunk, and diesel.

Cannabinoids and terpenes in Lemon tree

There are thousands of cannabis chemovars out there, and no real standards as to how to identify them — basically anyone can grow anything and call it whatever they want. In other words — there are better ways to choose a strain than on the name alone.

The chemical profile you see below is an average of laboratory tests for products called “Lemon Tree”— so it’s just an estimate of what you might find when you buy Lemon Tree weed.

How Lemon tree affects you

Based on user reports from sources such as Leafly, Lemon Tree strains tend to produce relaxation, happiness, upliftment and euphoria. Adverse effects of this strain can include dry mouth, anxiety and dizziness. But really, marijuana affects people in different ways. The two main factors are your own biology (your endocannabinoid system, metabolism, age, weight, etc). and the product you choose (including its cannabinoid profile and terpene breakdown, and the delivery method used).

Lemon Tree growing tips

Lemon Tree isn’t a difficult strain to grow, but it does grow tall and will need more attentive pruning and topping.

The harvest time is around 8-9 weeks, and it produces a medium sized yield both indoors and outdoors. When grown outdoors it can thrive both in sunny, warm climates and ones that are somewhat colder.

Some would-be growers report that it can be hard to find Lemon Tree seeds, but there are more options online than ever before, and you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting what you need for that first (very) lemony harvest.

When growing cannabis, the right seeds can make even an amateur feel (and look) like a pro. With the naked eye, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between regular seeds and those from a prize-winning strain. This is where buying from a trusted seedhouse comes in.

Parent strain Lemon Skunk is an upbeat citrusy hybrid whose attributes can be seen and felt in Lemon Tree, as can the diesel aroma and cerebral, euphoric, and energetic high associated with parent strain Sour Diesel.

Because of its flavor and aroma profile and potent effects, Lemon Tree has been used to breed a large number of strains, including Dosi Tree (a cross with Do Si Dos), Lemon Gelato (a cross with Gelato) Lemon Snow Cone (a mix with Super Lemon Haze), Tasty Trees (a cross with Faceoff), and Melonade (a mix of Lemon Tree, Watermelon Zkittlez, and Midwest Best), to name just a few.
