Established in 2000, the University of California Center for Medicinal Cannabis is a state-funded research facility “at the forefront of advancing science and policy relating to the potential clinical benefits and limitations of cannabis and cannabinoids medicine.”
The center has produced a wide range of research studies that can be accessed online. It also provides information to professionals and the public, in the form of scientific publications, print, radio, and television media dissemination, educational events, and training for students and scholars interested in cannabinoid science.
The CMCR also collaborates with federal and state agencies on regulatory reviews (for instance with the FDA, DEA, and NIDA), and on the implementation and development of research and policy on the use of cannabis and cannabinoid products.
