International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute

Founded in 2015, the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute identifies, coordinates and supports global research priorities for the advancement of cannabis and cannabinoid treatments through a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach that incorporates innovative tools and methods,” according to the organization’s website.

The organization is located in the heart of Prague, Czech Republic, and its key program is what it calls the “Patient Focused Certification,” a third-party certification cannabis manufacturers, distributors, cultivators, and laboratories. The certification is compliant with the standards of the American Herbal Products Association and includes “comprehensive reviews of formulations and materials, independent testing, and facility inspections,” as well as annual inspections, unannounced random inspections, employee training, and product testing.

The ICCI brings together experts from the scientific community and the academic community, and cooperates with Charles University, the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Masaryk University and Mendel University in Brno, Hebrew University in Jerusalem and other institutions across the world.

Other services provided by the ICCI include cannabis education, plant research services, metabolomics services, big data services, consulting services, government relations, and help with regulatory affairs. The ICCI also provides R&D services to the cannabis industry, specifically in three main areas: biomedicine, life science, and policy science.
