The Genius Pipe – Smoke like a genius
Price: $$$
Material: Anodized aluminum
Size: 6 x 1.5 x 0.3 inches (available also in “mini size,” which is 5 x 1.25 x 0.3 inches)
Usage: Dry herb or concentrates (when using the “G-stone” insert)
Special design features: Built-in cooling filter, sleek and slim design, perfect travel size, easy to clean
The Genius Pipe is a unique and extremely cool pipe that also makes a great conversation starter if you bring it out at a party. Built with “Zen Design” in mind (according to the company), it is six inches of sleek, thin anodized aluminum that makes it extra discrete and easy to travel with. The pipe was designed with a patented “dimple design” that creates millions of micro vortices that cool down the smoke before it ever hits your mouth. This can make a smoother, more flavorful smoke, and also the inside of the pipe doubles as a grinder. Not only that, with the “G-Stone” accessory you can also vape concentrates with the pipe, by placing the stone in the bowl and dropping the concentrate on it. Finally, the whole thing breaks apart for easy cleaning, and seals up quite nicely with a bowl already packed, to make it a perfect pipe for any genius about to hit the road.

As good as you’d expect from a well-crafted, sturdy, 5.5 inch glass spoon pipe – that didn’t forget to include form along with function.

The Journey pipe solves this problem, and then some.
Made of a durable and very attractive zinc alloy, this pipe is screen free and uses a handy sealable bowl that locks in place with magnets. Basically, you can load up a bowl, close it, and hit the road to hit it where you see fit. And when the bowl is cashed, simply slide the lid back over.

Terp Surfer – reimagining the bowl
Price: $$$
Material: Wood and titanium
Size:
Usage: Dry herbs and concentrates
Special design features: Sleek design is easy to clean and aesthetically pleasing
If you want a pipe that’s also a conversation starter, the Terp Surfer gets the job done. Crafted from walnut, bamboo, or maple wood, the body of the Terp Surfer is clean and sleek. It’s modeled after – what else- a surfboard so you can “surf” the full spectrum of flavors in your weed.
A magnetic titanium docking ring holds the concentrate pads or the herb capsule so you can use your favorite concentrates or flower. This makes it easy to remove, clean and repack for more flavorful hits. The Terp Surfer is made to use with the Neo atomizer, an herbal atomizer that removes fire from the equation so you can experience all of the terpenes your cannabis strain has. But you can also use a regular lighter to enjoy it as well.
With the Neo, there’s no ash, resin or smoke so your bowl stays clean longer. A quick wipe with isopropyl alcohol is all it takes to make it clean and shiny again.

Widgets Maze-X Pipe – a smooth smoking experience
Price: $$$
Material: silicone and aluminum
Size: 5.5”
Usage: Dry herb
Special design features: bowl cover, patented filtration and cooling system, durable silicone wrap, detachable mouthpiece
Dry herb pipes are reliable and beloved in the stoner community, but they’re not exactly gentle on the throat. The Maze-X Pipe from Weedgets aims to change that.
This pipe is like no other you’ve seen, made from three separate pieces that each have a special design to cool and filter the smoke before it gets to you. The bowl has several holes in the bottom instead of just one, the silicone body hides the “maze” the pipe is named after, and the filtered mouthpiece doubles as a detachable joint tip. Combine these features with the durability of the pipe and smooth hits, and you may just have the perfect pipe.
The different types of pipes for smoking weed
Many weed pipe smokers would tell you there are two types of pipes for smoking weed – glass and everything else. That’s obviously not the case, but there’s something to be said for the classic glass pipe.
Glass pipes
Often called a “spoon” pipe (because the shape of the round bowl and thin narrow stem resembles a spoon), glass pipes produce strong, full-bodied hits through large hollow chambers. The glass doesn’t get overly hot to the touch (at least where you’d be holding it) and when the pipe is new and not clogged with resin you can enjoy the sensation of watching it fill up with smoke and then empty as you clear the carb.
Also, glass pipes taste great and are one of the best options when you are trying out a new cannabis strain you’re excited about and want to truly experience the flavor.
While glass pipes may be the most popular, they are by no means the only type of pipe.
Metal pipes
Metal pipes are also still popular, though less so than a generation or two ago. They tend to be cheaper than glass pipes and are also much, much harder to break. They can also usually be unscrewed and broken apart for easy cleaning. The drawbacks? They get really hot, and can have this metallic taste nobody wants.
Ceramic pipes
Ceramic pipes can come in all shapes and sizes and truly provide a vessel for artistry and stoner sculpture. At their simplest, ceramic pipes are a cheap, durable option for smoking, and at their most elaborate, they are works of art that may put form before function.
Corncob pipes
We would be remiss if we did not mention the classic corncob pipe, a budget option that is far less en vogue today, and shouldn’t be your first option by any means. In fact, pipes that use corn cobs, wood, or bamboo can be effective, but you’re probably better off not using a pipe whose bowl is made of flammable organic materials.
Why use a pipe?
Your chosen smoking method is mainly a matter of taste, but there are some objective draws to pipe smoking. If you’re smoking high-grade weed, then two or three good hits could be more than enough to get you where you want to be. Loading a bowl with this much weed uses much less than would be needed to roll a joint, and may produce more or less the same intoxicating effect.
A pipe is perfect when you want to take a couple hits really quick, and don’t have the time, space, or energy to roll and smoke an entire joint. In a sense, using a pipe is better suited for those who like to smoke alone, and don’t need to make a big production out of it.
Also, like we mentioned before, a pipe can be one of the best ways to smoke weed if you’re looking to truly feel the taste and aroma of the strain, directly, without any papers or other additives. And the hits themselves? They can be especially strong and flavorful, and pack more punch than a hit from a joint.
How to use a pipe
The first step in smoking a pipe is to pack the bowl. Take some cannabis flower, you can break it up a bit or even grind it, but don’t make it too fine a grind. Take the herb and place it in the bowl, making sure it isn’t too loose or too tightly packed. If it’s too tightly packed, you won’t get a good airflow on your inhale, and if it’s too loose, you can end up with some weed in your mouth.
Once the bowl is packed, see if your pipe has a carb. Also known as the “choke,” this is a hole that you cover with your finger while you inhale, and then release your finger and keep inhaling in order to clear the smoke from the chamber.
Make sure that the carb is covered, apply a lighter flame to the bowl and inhale, pulling the flame into the weed and the smoke into your lungs. Inhale for a few seconds, release the carb, clear the chamber, and exhale. Once you do it a couple of times you should have an idea of how big a hit you need.
That’s all it takes, it really is as simple as that.
